Publisher. Tuer went to London in 1856 with the idea of becoming a doctor but was soon dissuaded of that profession and turned to a merchant's office. About 1862 he set up as a wholesale stationer and was joined the following year by Abraham Field, thus establishing the firm of Field and Tuer. They published their first book in the 1870s with Tuer as author as well as publisher.
